Renters Insurance

blog~simplesearchapts.com  February 21 2009 04:48:16 PM

I was out showing apartments today to a client that had a very sad story.  She went to work one morning like she usually does.  About noon, she got a phone call.  Her apartment had caught fire and she had lost pretty much everything.  The good news was that she did have rental insurance.  The insurance company should cover everything that she lost.  For those of you that don't know, it's fairly cheap to get renters insurance, and it's worth every penny.  I know that these type of catastrophes don't happen all that often, but you just never know what to expect.  It's better to be prepared because it's not just fires you have to worry about.  There are so many other things that can happen to your apartment.  Can you imagine if she hadn't had insurance?  How devastating would that have been?  You can get pretty good coverage for about $300 a year.  Every company has different rates so it's good to call around and see what works best for you.  I have talked to a lot of clients who pass on getting renters insurance and it just amazes me that so many people gamble on such a huge risk.  For all those renters out there, get renters insurance today!  I hope everyone is doing well and I will talk to ya soon!

I do marketing and sales for a State Farm agent, which allows me to meet with a lot of apartments and renters. It's amazing how many people I talk to who think their landlord's insurance covers their personal property. Everyone who is renting should have renters insurance! Its inexpensive, quick to sign up for and it gives you peace of mind.
