Apartment Ratings and Reviews

When moving, many people try to get as much information about any Austin or Houston apartment they are considering to move into. This includes checking out all sorts of web sites for apartment ratings and reviews. You should keep an open mind when checking out these sites and take it all with a grain of salt.
These sites allow people to freely post their opinion about any property. You may find reviews from past tenants lauding the property for all of its virtues. You may also find scathing reviews from disgruntled tenants complaining about all sorts of deficiencies and shortcomings.
The positive reviews may be from a truly satisfied consumer. This good Samaritan may wish to give credit where credit is due. Some people take time to offer up a “good job” or “pat on the back” when it is deserved. Or, it may be from a member of the property staff trying to raise their overall score.
The same goes for the negative reviews. You may see a review from someone who truly had a negative experience, wanting only to share with the world in order warn their fellow man. There have also been cases of competing properties posting negative reviews about their rivals. Guerrilla marketing is not uncommon.
So what is a person to get out of all of this? How do you know if the review is an accurate representation of the property or just someone trying to manipulate the forum for their own gain? Well, the answer is that you do not truly know.
So, use your judgment and use review sites as a simple guide and not the absolute deciding factor in determining whether a property is right for you.
